WEDDING RECEPTIONS

PLANNING "YOUR" BIG DAY

Having a problem wrestling with ideas for your wedding reception?  The ability to change bad situations into good which can occur during a wedding reception is a great trait to have!   Sometimes, there are things that can go wrong and be undetected, however the sign of a good wedding DJ is flexibility to work through and fix these situations.  This is where my experience with wedding receptions plays a major role!

Thunder Entertainment believes in the following:

1.  CONTROLLING THE FLOW of the event is the primary role of a wedding Disc Jockey.   Making announcements is the easy part, but it takes experience to control the flow.

2.  Providing you with a WEDDING RECEPTION PLANNER to assist in the organization of events at your wedding reception.  Every reception is different.  There are things that you want and do not want in your reception.  The prime example is song selection.

3.  PLAYING THE APPROPRIATE MUSIC that you select.  This is the time to select the music for your special day.  The songs you select will become part of the memories that will remain with you for a lifetime.   The main point is that you want entertain your guests, not chase them away.   Choose your music wisely.

4.  That your wedding reception should be WORRY FREE!   You have enough on your mind when the big day arrives and you shouldn't have to worry about the DJ.

5.  Working with your Banquet Manager, Photographer, Videographer, and of course both of you..

WEDDING RECEPTION EVENTS

The following is an outline of a typical wedding reception.  Of course, it is your special day, so if you want to eliminate tradition, or reorder the events, just let us know.  After all, every couple is unique, so shall be every reception.

COCKTAIL MUSIC

As your guests arrive, we generally play a light mixture of music.  This is the time when your guests are spending time conversing with friends and relatives, we try to keep the music low-key and our volumes unobtrusive.

BRIDAL PARTY INTRODUCTIONS (Optional)

If you prefer, we can obtain a list of the bridal party and the order they will be appearing in the wedding ceremony. When the bridal party arrives at the reception hall, we will introduce them as they enter.

INTRODUCTION OF THE BRIDE AND GROOM

At this time, your photographer may take pictures of the bridal party.  When the bride and groom arrive at the reception hall, we begin by introducing the bride and groom.

RECEPTION LINE (Optional)

A reception line can be accomplished with the introductions or can be a separate event .   Typically, the bride, groom, and parents will line up and greet the guests as they go through the line. This is a great time to say "thank you" to all of your guests for attending your special day.

FIRST DANCES

Typically occurs right after the bride/groom arrive. The bride and groom pre-select this song(s) before the wedding day.  Aside from pleasing your guests, you and your fiance should make sure your own favorites are played.  Could you imagine celebrating your wedding without dancing to "your song"?

  • Bride and Groom Dance

  •  Bride's Dance with her Father

  • Groom's Dance with his Mother

TOAST TIME/CAKE CUTTING

  • Toast by the Best Man

  • Toast by the Matron of Honor

  • Cake Cutting

 DANCE TIME!

At this time of the reception, we usually play a lot of popular hits that everyone knows to get everyone dancing!

BOUQUET/GARTER TOSS

  • Tossing of the Bouquet

  • Tossing of the Garter

           RETURN TO DANCING

Toward the end of the reception, we like to play a mix of popular songs to keep everyone involved.

LAST DANCE (Optional)

The "Last Dance" is usually a chance for the Bride/Groom to say goodbye to everyone before leaving the reception.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Remember, please bear in mind that we have made broad suggestions towards a typical wedding reception, if there is anything we can do to make your event special, unique and memorable, please let us know!

Choosing your wedding DJ is a wearisome task and you may be tempted to choose the one with the least expensive price.  However, an inexperienced DJ can make the difference  between an occasion to remember and a occasion to forget!   Clearly, there are several factors to consider, so don't take unnecessary risks.   Make sure you are given a contract stating what you are paying for!   Take the time to evaluate your DJ because you deserve the best.
